She’ll do anything for her only son DOUGIE, though his extreme intelligence baffles even her.

• Character speaks with an English accent. MAUREEN’S only son, or “heir,” as he would say. Though he’s not even ten, DOUGIE acts like a 60-year-old scholar and has no time for childish fancies. A great reader of books but not social situations, DOUGIE frequently recites facts and corrects his family members, much to their annoyance.
