• Cam’s bestie, a fellow neuroblastoma patient who Cam met at cancer camp where they immediately bonded over their commitment to making fun of self-help books and the hashtag cancer warriors who want to believe that positive thinking can cure what science can’t. But the thing that bonded these two girls so deeply has changed in the six years since camp. In fact, Lily’s got a dirty secret: that she’s recently decided to give optimism and unironic earnestness a chance; an attitude that’s a lot easier to adopt when your hot oncologist hasn’t stamped you with an expiration date. Excited to be close by for the summer, Lily joins Cam for her first night in Promise and encourages her to embrace new opportunities rather than wallow in despair.
