MY LIL EYE
FEATURE FILM
DANNY
- Male
- Age: 7 to 10 years old
- White
- Lead role
- CONTENT ADVISORY: My Little Eye contains mature horror themes, including domestic violence, murder, child endangerment, strong language, and graphic/surreal imagery. Because the film is largely told from Danny’s first-person POV, much of this material will not require the child performer to be present or directly participate in its filming.
- A sensitive, imaginative seven-year-old with a vivid inner life and an endearing, slightly offbeat sense of humor. After witnessing his mother’s murder, Danny escapes into the night and sets out on his own, navigating a world that becomes increasingly frightening, strange and surreal. The film is told almost entirely from Danny’s first-person perspective, making him the emotional center of the story and the performance that carries the film. Although the actor’s face/body appears on camera for only approximately three script pages, this is a substantial lead role requiring extensive dialogue and vocal performance throughout the film.
AMY AKA “MOM”
- Female
- Age: 28 to 38 years old
- White
- Supporting role
- Danny’s mother, a naturally striking woman worn down by addiction, abuse and years of hard living. She loves her son deeply and attempts to flee her abusive husband with him, but is murdered before they can escape. Amy later reappears through Danny’s memories, hallucinations and an idealized dream reality that gradually turns threatening. Tough, funny, wounded and still capable of flashes of the person she might have become – someone with great taste, creativity and real promise in another life.
SETH AKA “DAD”
- Male
- Age: 30 to 45 years old
- White
- Supporting role
- Danny’s father, a handsome police officer whose explosive temper keeps his family living in fear. When his wife attempts to leave with their son, he kills her, then insists Danny help him rather than cry for his mother. He pursues the boy through the night with a relentless conviction that Danny belongs with him, shifting from shouted threats to coaxing reassurance. Even after destroying their family, he believes they can put it behind them and carry on.
