Character Description:
Elijah is a quiet, curious dreamer. He appears to be wise beyond his years, and although in a sense he might be, he is still young and naïve. It’s been over a year since his father’s (a Navy officer) death, but because he never returned home, Elijah still believes his father is alive, and that he is simply lost at sea. With a growing admiration for all things related to his father, a conversation with his mother triggers him to take matters into his own hands, and begin the search for his father.

Character Description:
Marie (Elijah’s mother) is warm but stern. She has a solid head on her shoulders and took on all the responsibilities necessary when Seymore, Elijah’s father, passed away. She is steadfast, caring, and perseverant. She worries about Elijah but raises him to be independent, just as she was. Since she has never fallen through on the responsibilities and presence of being a single parent, she is almost always tired and worn, but always pushes through for Elijah.
