SABINE

• A fifteen-year-old firecracker, Sabine grew up with an innate, inexplicable connection to the sea. Drawn to the shore ever since she was an infant, she would beg her Lola (aka “grandmother”) to bring them to the beach, where the two of them would search for seashells until sunset. Before her life was cut short, Sabine wanted to be a marine biologist. Now, she has become a part of the sea, a startling reality she has yet to accept.

LOLA

• Age: 50s-60s
• Filipina
• A former neurologist whose brain often rules over her heart, Lola (whose real name is Corazon, but only a select few are allowed to call her that) is a Filipina grandmother with a permanent case of survivor’s guilt. Prideful and stubborn above all else, Lola allows her extended family to take advantage of her, if only to feel like she has a reason for living.

ALMA

• Female
• Age: 50s-60s
• Filipina
• The understated owner of the community-famous Nanay’s Reading Nook, Alma is an eccentric book lover with a penchant for magic (shhh, you didn’t hear that from her). Lola’s dearest friend and a former nurse, Alma has seen her fair share of lost souls, and has made it her life mission to help others, especially after her wife passed away.

  • Virtual Auditions on September 15-16, 2025
  • Virtual Callbacks on September 17, 2025
